Within the framework of the Regional Policy Dialogue on Transparency and Integrity, an annual event organized by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and the IDB, with the counterpart of the Dirección General de Ética e Integridad Gubernamental (DIGEIG, Directorate General for Government Ethics and Integrity) of the Dominican Republic, in which we took part on 16 November.
The Euro-American Committee of Digital Law – CEA Digital Law congratulates the Dominican Republic on its firm commitment to transparency through the
implementation of the Single Transparency Portal and other means.
We likewise commend the investment measures that have been made visible, above all, on the “MapaInversiones” portal, with the support and assistance of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), which has been made available to citizens, particularly during COVID-19, with a vocation of permanence.
The Digital Agenda portal (which should be kept up to date), as a means of showing society at large the progress made in accelerating economic and social recovery after this pandemic, has given rise to the Digital Agenda 2030, which, not by chance, coincides with the 2030 Agenda of the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals). We therefore also applaud and welcome the proposal to incorporate digital technologies into production processes; to create safe, reliable and resilient digital environments; and to promote initiatives that boost productivity and competitiveness, as well as economic and social well-being, together with sustainable development.
The country seeks to leverage the use of digital technologies to expand and strengthen the national public procurement portal and to facilitate the exchange of information between different government databases, especially those related to public investment and financial management.
Greater interoperability of different systems will increase access to information and enable the implementation of internal processes and controls related to transparency and integrity in public procurement. IDB support will also help the country advance integrity policies that can be implemented by both governments and the private sector in the fight against the scourge of corruption.
