The Data Act (Regulation 2023/2854, of 13 December) has been enacted, complementing the Data Governance Act (Regulation 2022/868, of 30 May). These regulations represent key elements within the European Data Strategy, seeking to take advantage of the opportunities of the digital age.
The #DataAct It focuses on meeting the demands of the digital economy and removing barriers in the internal data market. It establishes a harmonized framework that specifies who can use related product or service data, under what conditions, and on what basis. In addition, it ensures that users in the Union can access and use the data generated by these products or services in a timely manner.
On the other hand, the #DataGovernanceAct It regulates data access and use, facilitating the reuse of certain categories of public sector data in a transparent and reliable manner.
These regulatory frameworks open the door to developing AI systems by harnessing the potential of available data, benefiting SMEs and consumers. The next #Reglamentodeinteligenciaartificial, about to be published in the OJEU, is approaching a more favourable environment thanks to these developments.
