Description
MOMENTUM IURIS
“THE LITIGATION LAWYER IN LATIN AMERICA”
At the Euro-American Committee of Digital Law - CEA Digital Law, we currently have three knowledge channels: EPISTEME & DOXA (with specific events ); DEEP TALKS (with monographic sessions ad personam) and today we launch MOMENTUM IURIS, through which we seek, by means of academic impulses, to move progressively towards success, starting from reality and with a view to continuous improvement through corrections and alternatives to residual or endemic problems of the legal profession.
And what better way to dedicate the first of our MOMENTUM IURIS sessions than to the topic that will occupy us from June 15 until the testimonies from all the countries of Latin America have been completed in this great event, THE LITIGATION LAWYER IN LATIN AMERICA
Over the next 18 working days, a litigation LAWYER and, in most cases, a final-year law STUDENT or graduate, and occasionally someone else (as a surprise), will bring us up to date on their daily work, their challenges and the needs they face in their practice.
The Litigation Lawyer in Latin America
Is being a lawyer in Colombia the same as in Ecuador or Costa Rica…?
In the Roman legal tradition, we all share a similar legal culture in the way lawyers and other legal practitioners study and work with the law.
If we agree with the above, and starting from the current premise that the requirements for practicing the profession also differ in each country, so that the practical difficulties are of considerable importance, it is also possible to look for similarities in the role of the lawyer within the legal-political system in order to understand it.
In the construction of Latin America, lawyers carry less political weight than in the past, and yet their involvement in the conduct of public affairs has increased. Even so, the high growth rate of law students has stratified their social composition and deepened social differences and inequalities. Moreover, the multifaceted consequences of Covid 19 on the profession are also accentuating income distribution.
Every day, starting on June 15, 2020, we will bring you a litigation lawyer from each country who will tell us about the day-to-day of their practice
