The global regulatory landscape for crypto

Capa do relatório da PwC «Navigating the Global Crypto Landscape: 2024 Outlook», dezembro de 2023

Antonio Tejeda Encinas, President of the Euro-American Committee of Digital Law - CEA Digital Law

PwC US/UK’s report explores the global regulatory landscape for crypto-assets in traditional financial services, covering topics such as jurisdictional equivalence, the globalisation of crypto operations and standard-setting criteria. Its detailed analysis of the EU Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA) stands out, and it provides an overview of the rules in multiple jurisdictions.

However, some relevant countries are missing, such as Andorra, Argentina and Liechtenstein, among others. Country by country, the overview covers a wide range of topics: government stance, taxonomy, regulation, stablecoins, CBDCs, licensing of service providers, financial crime and pending legislation. In short, it is a valuable tool for understanding regulatory issues at global level, although some countries of interest are left out.
