Spain’s current landscape invites us to reflect on the divisions that have marked our country:<\/strong><\/p>\n

For a long time, we have spoken of the famous (per Machado) ‘two Spains’, an ideological fracture that split the country into two opposing visions. Today, however, that division has evolved, giving way to a third Spain: the one that struggles daily against poverty and social exclusion, especially in Regions such as the Canary Islands.”<\/p>\n

The 2024 State of Poverty Report, presented by the European Anti-Poverty Network (EAPN), highlights an alarming fact: not only is there a difference between the north and the south of Spain, but a large part of the population lives on the margins of welfare. Regions such as the Canary Islands are especially vulnerable, showing one of the highest poverty rates in the country (the second, behind Murcia). This reality cannot be ignored.<\/p>\n

Both the public and private sectors (other essential actors should join the effort) have an important role to play in creating opportunities for all, especially in Regions such as the Canary Islands, where the struggle for dignity is a daily reality.<\/p>\n

From my perspective, as an international lawyer, CEO of Meta Channel Corporation and President of the Comit\u00e9 Euro Americano de Derecho Digital -CEA Digital Law, a company dedicated to digital transformation and innovative global strategies, on the one hand, and to academic and research work on these matters, on the other; I firmly believe that technology and digitalization are powerful tools to reduce these social gaps. However, true innovation must not only be technological, but also social: inclusion must be the engine that drives any sustainable progress we wish to implement.<\/p>\n

SOME Ideas (off the cuff) to Redraw Canarian Society:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Creation of a ‘Canarian Forum for Innovation and Business Sustainability’, where Ceoe-Tenerife (I throw down the gauntlet), or APD (which focuses on improving business management and developing senior executives, could contribute to the debate or act as guarantors of the idea)…, together with leading companies, discuss how technological innovation can align with sustainability goals. This forum would address topics such as artificial intelligence applied to sustainable development, renewable energy in industry, the circular economy, sustainable tourism, the blue economy… shall I go on?<\/p>\n

What other initiatives could we develop together to reduce poverty and foster social innovation in the Canary Islands? I am open to debating and generating ideas, to creating a Canarian think tank with those who share this vision of the future.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
