Dr. Carlos Andr\u00e9s P\u00e9rez Galindo<\/strong> is a Biologist specializing in Genetics, holds a Master\u2019s degree in Bioinformatics<\/strong>, Advanced Studies in Biotechnology and a PhD in Biotechnology.<\/p>\n

\nOrder of Democracy Sim\u00f3n Bol\u00edvar in the Grade of \u201cCruz Oficial\u201d, by authorization of the House of Representatives; Order of Valle del Cauca Independence, from the Departmental Assembly of Valle del Cauca; Order of the Congress of the Republic in the Grade of Knight, from the Senate of the Republic; Santiago de Cali Medal in the Grade of \u201cCruz de Oro\u201d (Gold Cross), from the City Council of Santiago de Cali; \u201cGRAN MEDALLA SOCIO FUNDADOR, CATEGOR\u00cdA ORO\u201d (Grand Founding Member Medal, Gold Category), the highest distinction awarded by the Consejo Superior Universitario of the USC; Order of Merit of Valle del Cauca for Labour, in the Grade of CRUZ DE COMENDADOR (Commander\u2019s Cross), from the Governorship of Valle del Cauca; Santiago de Cali Medal in the Grade of Cruz de Oro, from the Municipal Council of Santiago de Cali; Honourable Mention awarded by the Mayor\u2019s Office of Pradera; Recognition for his Great Contribution to Excellence in Education from the District Municipality of San Miguel, Lima, Peru, within the framework of the world meeting of rectors; recognition for his academic development work as Rector of the Universidad Santiago de Cali, awarded by the Personer\u00eda Municipal de Santiago de Cali.<\/p>\n

\nNational Award in Science Teaching, from the Asociaci\u00f3n Colombiana de Ciencias Biol\u00f3gicas; National Award in Genetics and Biotechnology, from the Asociaci\u00f3n Colombiana de Ciencias Biol\u00f3gicas; Best Chapter of the Asociaci\u00f3n Colombiana de Ciencias Biol\u00f3gicas at the National Congress of Biological Sciences; Top Student in the academic periods January\u2013June 1995, February\u2013July 1996; October 1995 to February 1996; September 1996\u2013January 1997, September 1997\u2013January 1998 of the Biology Academic Program of the Universidad del Valle; Best Graduate of the Universidad del Valle in 2000; best lecturer of the Chemistry Program of the Universidad Santiago de Cali; First place in the selection of teacher trainers in new information technologies, Ministerio de Educaci\u00f3n Nacional \u2013 Universidad Cat\u00f3lica del Norte .<\/p>\n

Dr. CARLOS ANDR\u00c9S P\u00c9REZ GALINDO has also made significant contributions to the quality development of the Universidad Santiago de Cali as Research Lecturer, Member and Vice-President of the Board of Trustees (Consejo Superior), Member of the Academic Council, member of the Central Research Committee, Director of the Research Center for Basic and Environmental Sciences and Technological Development, Coordinator of the Biology Area of the Chemistry program, member of the Central Curriculum Committee, Director of the Biotechnology and Environment Research Group (GIBMA), Dean of the Faculty of Basic Sciences and Rector.<\/p>\n

While serving as a member of the Consejo Superior of the Universidad Santiago de Cali, Dr. CARLOS ANDR\u00c9S P\u00c9REZ GALINDO proposed the creation of the Faculty of Basic Sciences, an initiative approved by Agreement CS-04 of 24 September 2008.<\/p>\n

Finally, outside the Universidad Santiago de Cali, Dr. CARLOS ANDR\u00c9S P\u00c9REZ GALINDO has also distinguished himself as a Researcher at the Laboratorio Andaluz de Biolog\u00eda del Desarrollo in Seville, Spain; Representative on the Doctoral Scholarship Allocation Committee at the Universidad Pablo de Olavide, Spain; Academic Advisor to the Master\u2019s program in Genetics of the Universidad Sim\u00f3n Bol\u00edvar in Barranquilla, where he has also been Evaluator of the Molecular Biology Laboratory and a member of the group that presented the Master\u2019s program in Genetics to the Ministerio de Educaci\u00f3n Nacional; Academic Peer Reviewer for the Ministerio de Educaci\u00f3n Nacional; Peer Reviewer for the indexed journal Colombia M\u00e9dica; and President of the Valle Chapter of the Asociaci\u00f3n Colombiana de Ciencias Biol\u00f3gicas. A speaker and lecturer at various national and international research and academic events and activities, he is currently General Vice-President of the Grupo de Universidades Iberoamericanas \u2018La R\u00e1bida\u2019, made up of 76 higher education institutions.
